Hi everyone,
I’ve been talking with Martin Clark, who runs Rodmersham Squash Club, about Mixed Ability Team Squash (MATS), which they’ve been successfully running internally for several months.
He’s asked if we’d like to arrange a match with Rodmersham, on Friday 10th February. If successful, I'd like to arrange a return match in Hythe.
What is MATS?
With MATS, you have a team of 7 men, women, and juniors, with squash levels from beginner (100) to experienced player.
You play the person the same number as you in the team (like team squash).
A match is 22 minutes long. 11 minutes, with a 2 minute break, followed by 11 minutes. The score keeps going until the end of the match. So, for example, player A might beat player B by 50 points to 40.
The team that scores the most points in total is the winner.
This makes the team match exciting, and brings together juniors, ladies and men of all abilities. It’s a great learning opportunity for players, and a great way for members to socialise and meet different people.
Get Involved
Register your interest to play by replying, and don’t be shy. It’s for juniors, ladies, men of all abilities. If we have lots of interest, we’d be able to get more than one team across, because Rodmersham has a number of MATS players.
