RETURN TO SQUASH/RACKETBALL

Dear Members

We have now been able to play squash and racketball for 2 weeks after the Covid-19 lockdown, and so far, so good. We hope more of you are starting to venture back on the courts, but would like to remind you of the guidelines from England Squash to try and keep all users free from infection from Covid-19.

The courts are open for singles play or solo practice. The only time there should be more than 2 people on court is for coaching with a qualified coach.

All courts must be pre-booked on mycourts and the name of your opponent ideally should be added at the time of booking (for track and trace purposes).

Please arrive at the club changed and ready to play. The showers will not be functioning and changing rooms will be closed. Any bags/spare rackets must be placed outside the court area or at the front of the court. Please bring water with you, to avoid any spread of infection from the water fountain.

On arrival at the club you will need to sign in by the entrance and use the hand sanitiser that is by the signing in book. Please do not be unduly early for your court, up to five minutes should suffice. Then go to the check-in kiosk and check in for your court, also wiping the screen with the sanitiser/blue tissue provided for this purpose.

Either wait for your court to be vacated by the previous occupants outside the court area or on the viewing balcony, observing social distancing at all times. The previous occupants of the court should have used the last 5 minutes of their session to wipe down any surfaces that have been touched. Try to touch as few surfaces as possible and do not wipe your hands on the walls.

Pay for your court using the light machines in the normal way.
Once on court, depending on who you are playing, please follow the guidelines for a socially distanced game. These guidelines and some suggestions from “Off The Wall” squash will be on posters around the court area. Those choosing to play a “normal” game, should appreciate the additional risk that is incurred.

Ideally you should use a new ball and this should only be touched by one player who should serve throughout.

Guests and those not playing should not go into the court area.
Five minutes before the end of your court time, you should finish your game and use the remaining time to wipe down any surfaces that have been touched with sanitiser and blue tissue. This should be disposed of in the bin provided. Please clear the court area quickly at the end of your allotted time and socially distance with those who may be going on after you.

We urge all players to act responsibly and to use common sense to help keep all members safe. Although we welcome you to play, please think about the risks and whether you are happy to take these. ALL PLAYERS PLAY AT THEIR OWN RISK. Please work with us to ensure a safe and enjoyable return to squash/racketball.
