Wednesday’s match saw the Incontinents take on the Impotents with the Incontinents eventually winning by three games to one. The Star Match was Martin Brown against Alwyn Fernandez with both on the same handicap Martin eventually won by a handful of points as Alwyn just failed to overcome a very slow start. Elsewhere Norman Smith was a little too strong for Andrew Butler and John Good saw off Matt Day. The evening started with Glyn Goff against new player Dave Wilson and although Glyn ran out a comfortable winner credit must be given his novice opponent who showed that old dogs can learn new tricks.
On Thursday it was the turn of the Indolents and The Impertinents to go head -to-head. And it was the Indolents who came out on top. Trevor Semadini blamed an iffy toe for losing to Lee Divers, Michael Galvin had played earlier, and Julian Belcher cited being dragged out of the bar for his loss to Cathy Spalding. But the tenacity award must go to Cathy’s husband Alistair who along with his opponent managed to forget when they went on and played for nearly an hour.
But that’s all history now and TODAY is finals night. It all kicks off at 6.15 with the four teams battling for glory.
It has to be admitted that the handicapping has been pretty flaky, the marking has definitely been uneven, and as for the organisation…..? Well it is free! and Good FUN
